Acting LabWe encourage exploration of creativity and push to educate teens and children in their passion for the performing arts from home! Acting Lab teaches you how to enter into imaginary worlds where everything becomes possible. Our programs provide an ideal environment where you can gain new experiences, get in touch with your emotions, communicate, share, and develop social skills. Acting is a fun practice as well as a great way to teach teens and children lots of useful skills in a very entertaining way, because deep down, we all want to play.
Our Summer 2020 Programs
Marwa KhalilFounder/ Riad partner/ Instructor
Marwa Khalil studied theater and directing Films in Lebanon, Paris and New York and began acting from the age of 18. She worked on stage and then went into cinema and TV. She acted in Lebanon as well as in Morocco and participated in foreign films in France and in the US.
She lately played a lead role in 2 films «Are you Glad I am Here» a LebaneseAmerican film on Amazon prime and «Indigo» a French-Moroccan film. She also acted in 2 Lebanese movies «Yalla 3abelkoun» that gathered around 100 000 entries and «Yalla 3abelkoun Chabeb» for which she was awarded the prize for «Best ensemble Cast». Both are now on Netflix.
4 years ago Marwa was chosen to be the brand ambassador for Nescafe Capuccino Italiano. Marwa is not only an actress, she has an entrepreneurial vision in the art world. She has already produced and co-written more than 5 plays.She recently started studying psychology to develop her passion for the understanding of the human being and to try to find bridges between arts and psychology.
Riad ChiraziActing Lab partner/ tutor
Riad Chirazi earned his bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts/ Drama with distinction at the Lebanese American University (LAU) and has done several workshops for different methods in theater, covering all areas of expertise.
Riad has more than 20 years of experience as a drama instructor. He is also the assistant to the director for student life and head of ‘Activities and Drama’ at the International College (IC) in Lebanon.
Riad has written and directed more than 15 school plays with his students. Before teaching, Riad portrayed many roles as both a TV and theater actor.
Youmna Moacdieh is a freelance artist and teacher based in Beirut, Lebanon. She has a Bachelor in Cinema Studies and a Master’s degree with high distinction in Theater from the Saint Joseph University - IESAV (Institut d’Études Scéniques, Audiovisuelles et Cinématographiques).
Moacdieh also holds a minor in Psychology. Youmna has worked with 10 to 18- year-old children for the past 10 years as a drama, psychodrama and audiovisual teacher. At the heart of her work is a passion for writing and directing, and an interest in contemporary art.
Francois Yazbeck is a Lebanese sound designer, musician and film director. He works mainly in cinema and television, and has worked as a sound designer/ sound editor on more than 8 international feature films, among which the Oscarnominated documentary “Honeyland».
He teaches cinema at L’Athenee de Beyrouth, College des Freres Maristes Amchit and USJ-IESAV. He is also a partner and co-founder of the postproduction studio “Anvil Create”.
Jamale Bou HamadInstructor
Jamale Bou Hamad earned her Bachelor of Arts from USJ (University of Saint Joseph) in Lebanon. Her short movie ‘Endless Ache’ was featured in international festivals in Lebanon and abroad. She also studied 2 years of acting at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting in Los Angeles.
